Deforestation in the Amazon – Emmy Winner!

About the Project

This was a reboot of the InfoGuide franchise. We brushed away the previous templates, choosing to take a bespoke approach to storytelling and development. Our underlying concept was to eliminate redundancy and merge the narratives told in the intro video together with the other elements of timelines, maps, and text. Therefore, we took the carefully crafted narrative generally reserved for the lead overview video and “exploded it down the page” of the overall interactive.  The result is a single continuous scrolling immersive experience that allows for the user to scroll through the story, with stunning visuals and in-depth text, in a very visual and active way.

Excerpt from the news release: “A new interactive published by the Council on Foreign Relations takes users on an immersive journey through Brazil’s Amazon rain forest to explore the country’s challenges in controlling and trying to reverse deforestation. The interactive offers stunning still and video images, rich sound design, archival footage, and satellite maps to trace the country’s evolving — and increasingly vital — policies toward the vast Amazon.”
